Kenwood Mpls. Interior 1990’s Tuscany Interior Update…
Design trends in the 1990’s gave way to a Renaissance of sorts for many decorative artisans in the Twin Cities. Specialty painting jobs for artists and painters with a bit of talent was plentiful in the Twin Cities during the 90’s. Paint stores filled their shelves with gallons of Designer labeled Faux finishing plasters, glazes & specialty brushes. Classes were held at Hirshfields, Abbott Paint and Home Depot for consumer do-it-your-selfer’s hoping that they could learn to paint like the experts so that they too could luxuriate in a home surrounded with the colors and hues of old world elegance.
Now, 20 years later, beautiful homes still filled with these old faux finishes are being purchased by new home-owners looking for a fresh new approach to home decor! Decorators tell us that simplicity is the name of the game! Walls are being smoothed out and brightened up! Nostalgia in decor still prevails with the Mid-century Modern trend, but the main approach for many customers now including this new homeower, was to lighten up the all of the walls & trim, add a bit of pattern creating a new fresh sense of space, continuity & simplicity through-out the home… We accepted the challenge and spent the Winter of 2023 working with the very patient and creative home owner creating her vision!
